Flight Attendant Tracey Njie

AT COMMUTEAIR, WE HAVE GREAT PEOPLE WITH GREAT STORIES TO SHARE.

Flight Attendant, Caregiver, Lifesaver

For Tracey Njie, the skies aren’t just her workplace—they’re where her purpose takes flight. Since joining CommuteAir as a Flight Attendant and Air Transportation Supervisor (ATS) in April 2023, Tracey has made a lasting impression through her exceptional service and unwavering dedication to care, both on and off the aircraft.

Becoming a flight attendant started with wanting to give back. As a mother to a daughter on the autism spectrum, Tracey experienced firsthand how compassionate flight attendants made challenging situations manageable.

“When traveling with my daughter, flight attendants always assisted me in every way possible,” she says. “I wanted to pay that forward to other parents and caregivers traveling with someone who has special needs.”

That mission continues to guide her every day on the job.

Before transitioning into aviation, Tracey built her career in senior administrative roles and real estate management. But it wasn’t until she stepped into the cabin of the ERJ145, as the sole flight attendant onboard, that she truly discovered her passion.

“All passengers are first class on my aircraft,” she proudly says. “I love that I set the tone for every flight and make each person feel valued.”

That dedication to service extends beyond routine travel. One unforgettable highlight involved a six-year-old unaccompanied minor on her first solo flight. Tracey went out of her way to ensure the child felt safe and confident, creating a secret hand signal they used throughout the flight as a form of nonverbal reassurance.

“That’s why I’m here—to serve others,” she says.

But Tracey’s most impactful moment as a flight attendant happened not at 30,000 feet, but in her own home. After returning late from a trip, she sensed something wasn’t right with her mother, who had been acting strangely during a phone call with a cousin. Remembering the FAST stroke test (Face, Arms, Speech, Time) from her initial flight attendant training, Tracey acted immediately. Her instincts were right—her mother was having a major stroke.

“The doctor told me, ‘You just saved her life,’” she recalls. Eight months later, her mother is still recovering—and still here. “Without the training I received from CommuteAir, that medical emergency could have ended very differently.”

Flight attendant training at CommuteAir is no small feat: three intensive weeks of ground and inflight instruction followed by real-world experience on an initial operating experience (IOE) flight. Tracey now mentors new flight attendants through that process, and her students are quick to credit her patience, wisdom, and warmth as big part of their success.

Tracey’s love for CommuteAir is matched by her admiration for the company’s culture.

“C5 really is a family,” she says. “From hurricane support to CommuteAir Cares, this company stands by its people.”

Though she hopes to explore opportunities with mainline United one day, for now, she’s proud to grow her career right here.

With her motto “One Band, One Sound,” Tracey Njie embodies everything International Flight Attendant Day stands for: service, strength, and selfless care. She is not just a leader in the cabin, she’s a lifesaver, a mentor, and a shining example of what makes CommuteAir extraordinary.
